Crag features

A crag for the broad-minded. A cavernous jungle-complex of quarries featuring a diverse collection of routes. The quarries are neglected and overgrown, and much of the rock is covered in a lichen that has a lot in common with dandruff. The sheltered aspect of the quarries also means that they stay damp for most of the year. However, find the right day and you could encounter an inspiring crag with a number of quality routes.

Approach notes

The Robin Hood Quarries lie 600m north of Whatstandwell on the Holloway Road. Park opposite a footpath-indicating lamppost. Behind the lamppost lies this mysterious hidden realm...while 50m up the road lies a pleasant tea-shop. The choice is yours.

There was the remnance of a rave still happening when we arrived in quarry 3. Loads of tents and mashed campers. Too dank to climb anything but worth mentioning to avoid broken glass and human faeces lurking about (witnessed).

Unfortunately neglected but there are some pretty worthwhile routes here - if you are climbing HVS-E2 then Autumn Of My Madness, Thunderstruck, Crack of Dawn, Antagonist and the newly cleaned Saucer Full Of Secrets would good give a good day. Right of the latter route some impressive harder routes climb the steep wall - but will need cleaning (and maybe the pegs checking). Apart from Saucer... the mentioned routes do stay fairly clean.
