Hill features

Pico Aneto is the highest mountain in the Pyrenees and in Aragon, and Spain's third-highest mountain, reaching a height of 3,404m.

Very popular in summer, the vast majority from the Esera Valley via a night in or near the Renclusa Hut. Can be done in a day using the early morning bus up the Vallibierna, but this involves getting a move on, and the route finding is more complicated than on the normal route. The latter can get quite icy in later season and axe and crampons are usually essential. The south and east ridges are rarely done.

Approach notes

In summer, early morning buses run both to the Esera (for the Renclusa route) and to the Vallibierna.
