All hell breaks loose on the Pic du Midi © James Rushforth

Summit of this hill

This summit has been climbed in 17 logbooks.

Hill features

One of the most famous peaks in the Pyrenees. Though not massively high it stands on its own plinth and makes an easy point of reference from miles around. All its faces are steep and even the 'normal' route is no pushover. There are many fantastic lines on perfect Andesite, a true climbers peak.

Approach notes

The Pic du Midi is on the French side of the Pyrenees not far from the border with Spain. The Pombie refuge is the usual base for anyone tackling the climbs.
