Crag features

The large quarry located above Neath Abbey, clearly visible from the M4 and main roads. There is a large boulder field below the quarry that has three-star boulders from Font 6A to 8B, with lots more potential. Access is a grey area and an epic if you don't know the way. The crag previously had routes, but this all fell down, creating the rough and unstable boulder field that was pioneered mostly by Alex Mannion and Liam Fyfe, who bushwacked the path and cleared most landings. Other firsts were made later by Tom Williams, Rhiannon Jacob and Eliot Stephens.

Approach notes

Park sensibly in one of the streets below the quarry, and not on the private road at start of the access path. Currently (2023), access has improved, but this could change with agreements not being kept. Behave yourself, and pick a local's brain if in doubt.

As you enter the open area below the quarry, Partition Area is at the bottom to your left. Directly above that, the domed block is Hillside ArĂȘte. As the ground levels, to your left is Far Left Area, and to your right first is Wonder Block just before the obvious Black Slab. Directly above this is the stunning square hanging block of Triassic.

Do anyone have a topo for Neath Abbey quarry?
