Crag features

Montcliffe is a small quarry providing some excellent short sustained climbs with only a 3 minute approach from parking, great for an evening trip when other local crags prove to be damp. Thirteen lower-off bolts and one strop around a tree was installed in July 2021 as part of an acess agreement more may still be added.

Boasting crag classics such as:-

  • Information Highway Revisited - E8 7a (Font 7C+)
  • Monty's Axe - E4 6a
  • Fight for your Riot to Work - E4 6a
  • Show us yer Topos - E1 5b
  • Lily Laguna - E1 5a

Restricted Access

Thirteen lower-off bolts and one strop around a tree have been provided, installed and tested by dedicated volunteers. Thank you!

In time there may also be lower-offs for the remaining routes.

Noticed a pair of kestrels nesting in a corner of Rivington Wall yesterday. Sadly there's some recent graffiti and the whole place feels neglected. A shame as it's otherwise a lovely setting.

Pretty overgrown at the moment, this hasn't seen much chalk in a while - could be good with a thorough clean though - not much below VS, but a few choice lines over HVS. worth an evening visit.
