Nice bouldering at the beach on perfect slate. © Kafoozalem
This is a spectacularly beautiful place to spend a day bouldering and swimming. In summer the dress code can be very casual. The climbing here was pioneered with a mixed ethic by persons unknown. Subsequent to its development, it was formally agreed at a BMC Meeting (2014) that natural sea cliffs in Devon should not be bolted.
There are 'No Climbing' signs and the owner of the land above the high water mark does not want climbing on his property.
Park at a lay-by (room for 5 cars) about 500m southwest of the entrance to Blackpool Sands car park. Walk up the road for about 100m southwest from the lay-by to a stile at the Coast Path. Walk straight down to the beach and head left for the routes.
i think this is where i went to try out some bolted routes at the south end !!! avoid these like the plague !! loose rock , loose bolts !!! not good !!! sketchy as F !! imo !! chudders1 - 03/Feb/15 |
