Rockfax Description
A pleasant route with an adventurous feel that winds its way through impressive terrain with comparative ease. There is a loose gully at the bottom, but apart from that it is little more than a grassy ramble with a couple of steps. It makes a pleasant alternative start to Senior's Ridge. Start past the slabs and the buttress on Northwest Face Route below a scree slope.
1) Go up the scree slope just to the right of a watercourse. Zig-zag your way up here until squeezed into the confines of a scree gully.
2) At the top of the gully, cross the stream and head into a small bay.
3) Climb the short wall on the left back leftwards to an exposed exit over the main slab.
4) Walk up the heathery and boggy hillside, making your way left into a bay with a flat rock ledge covered in quartz.
5) Go to the right-hand end of the ledge and scramble up onto it.
6) Walk left along the ledge to a grass gully at its left-hand end.
7) Go up the well-defined path and exit leftwards onto a small grass plateau with commanding views across Cwm Cneifion.
Descent or continuation - Continue up Senior's Ridge or Cneifion Arete. You can also walk off down from Cwm Cneifion. © Rockfax
