A good mid-grade boulder of clean and rough gneiss, only two minutes from the road. Technical problems and decent landings.

Drive through Farr towards Brin. After about half a mile take a left towards Garbole. After a few hundred metres park on the right by a forestry entrance. The boulder was visible from the road, but as of 2022 the plantation has regrown around it, making it invisible until you get quite close - but it is only about 5 minutes from the entrance at NH679 311. Follow the track for 100m, a gap in the trees to your right takes a winding rough path through the trees to the lone bloc.
As of Jan 2024 {checked it out this morning} the F.C have put in a new road to clear the plantation beyond the boulder.
Farr boulder is easier to get too BUT parking is now nearly impossible in the old layby/entrance.
Please find an appropriate parking spot that does NOT impede forestry vehicles or local traffic.
Quite obviously the SECOND best single boulder after the Ruthven Boulder, but still an excellent must-visit bloc. Awesome rock and good technical problems to complement Ruthven's burliness. Fiend - 24/Jan/13 |

the best single boulder in strathnairn, wonderful featured rock and a dozen or so quality problems make this an essential add on to a brin trip, oh and its fast drying and relatively midge free lambretta man - 27/Sep/11 |
