Duck Buttress and some boulders © phleppy

Crag features

A Jumble of large excellent blocks situated on the slopes of Farndale. There's plenty of easier problems mixed in amongst some good hard lines with each area easily accessible. The rocks seem to dry quickly after rain but some east facing walls may be slower to dry. Since the guide came out there has been some confusion over some descriptions which is very much justified. The problems which have some confusion are on The Hangover Boulder and are Green Gorillas and Champagne Charlie. It isn't possible to find the first ascentionist to get some clarification so please read the descriptions to get a better idea of which are the actual eliminates and what is used for each problem. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Approach notes

Park up on the western side of the Castleton to Hutton Le Hole moor road at SE691946, there's a lay-by just south of a public footpath post and just north of a bend in the road sign. Take the good track down the hillside (west) to a wall. Follow this down until a gate is reached where a path breaks off right (north). At this point the top of the boulders can be seen but follow a path below to reach them. Approximately 10 minutes from the car.

Lovely spot with some great boulders!

Very nice collection of problems. Will be back when there is less melting snow!
