James Oswald on the technical lower wall of Rakes Progress (7a) at Deep Rake © Alan James

Crag features

Deep Rake comprises two compact walls either side of the old quarry workings at the eastern end of Longstone Edge.

Approach notes

New parking. Do not use the Rowland Approach anymore since this will harm access to the crag.

Drive south from Calver on the B6001 to Hassop. After 1km you reach the brow of the hill where there is parking on the left side of the road at a vague cross roads. Go up the track on the opposite side of the road for about 500m until you can see the quarry across the fields on the left. Go through gates and across to some footpegs on the northeast fence post to allow you to cross without weighting the wire. This is the only parking you should use. The crag should no longer be approached from the road through Rowland since this will cause access problems.

Access Advice

New parking. Do not use the Rowland Approach anymore since this will harm access to the crag.
