Crag features

A cliff of two halves; the seaward cliff offers short but delightful climbs, with excellent rock and good holds. However, it is tidal. The landward cliff is bigger and non-tidal, but the rock is not always solid, although there are some very good climbs.

Approach notes

Approach along a wide track leading northwards from the village of Botallack, keeping left of Botallack Manor, to reach ample parking just past the Botallack Count House (National Trust). Several paths lead down through old mine buildings to the cliff edge from where a broad track is followed down to the distinctive Crowns Mine engine houses, perched above the sea down to the right (facing out). After passing the higher of the two mine buildings, descend polished rocks, via metal rungs courtesy of the National Trust, to a flat grassy platform at the same level as the lower mine building.
