Crag features

Recently developed two pitch sport crag, one of the tallest sport crags in Scotland, something different! Seven lower pitches and four upper pitches with excellent belays. Faces south so is a sun trap. Only 5 min walk from the road!

Some pitches are very close to 30m in length so a 60m rope is needed. Please tie knots in your abseil ropes and remember to clip into the belays when abseiling!

With a lot of work the crag has been extensively cleaned. If there is dust that bothers you, there are brushes at the bottom of the crag free for your use!

There is a mini guide at www.7amax.co.uk. Grades are provisional, please leave feedback etc. Thanks.

Approach notes

Pull into a small dirt parking area on the right hand side about 0.5km from the Mound junction along the A839 to Rogart/Lairg. Access is not required so you can park in front of the wooden gate. It is also possible to leave cars on the old road inside of the gate but don't block in other parked vehicles!

Restricted Access

The estate has requested that from September to January climbing only takes place on Sundays. Please respect this for estate activities.

Wasp nest appears to have been knocked down but there are still wasps. Two of our party got stung, take care. Its just where the gorse bushes are.

Visited today and had a great climb. Well done to whoever bolted this Crag. Just a note that there’s a wasps nest in the whin bushes on the access path where you squeeze through the narrow part. Take care or choose a different route!

LOST PROPERTY!! I left my red compact camera at the base of the crag on Monday 12th June 2017 - if you're visiting and you find it would you kindly contact me to arrange its return? Mobile 07896 823537. Thanks a million, Johannes.

Really enjoyed a short visit here. Very friendly bolt spacing, grading and not too steep, so really recommended for those looking to make a step into the 6's or venture onto their first multi-pitch. Well done the bolters!
