Crag features

A short (10m) crag with some very steep climbing on pockets.
Excellent on sunny summer evenings.
The cliff is tidal and the base features slippery mud and seaweed strewn boulders.

Approach notes

Park on the minor coast road between Clevedon and Portishead. A public footpath leads down the side of a field towards the coast. At the point where you meet the coast path the crag is about 10 metres away on the other side of an impenetrable thicket of sloes and brambles. Turn left and follow the path until you can find a way down to the 'beach', then make your way back to the base of the crag. Alternatively, turn right onto the coast path and after a few yards bash through the undergrowth to the cliff top.

Restricted Access

Access to this area should be from the left end (facing towards the crag) and there should be no further bolting between Corniceman and Skin Flick. See the Chee Dale section of the RAD for information.

Only did the one route (not sure which) but it was well worth 2/3 stars, super steep and juggy with great moves. Worth taking a pad to put your stuff on as there is plenty of mud on the ground (surprisingly there was no mud on the pad when I picked it up), none on the cliff after the first few footholds though. It's a real shame that the ground's horrible but once you're off it the cliff is great. There were a few damp holds near the ground but then the sun wasn't out, pay attention to tides and take some sunshine and it'd be grand. Loads of potential and from the number of bolts it looks like there are far more routes than those listed, I plan to go back!

Mud, thick mud and seaweed everywhere. Not earth mud - sea mud. Horrible! Waders essential for the belayer and a small rubber boat to put all the gear in.

Not really worth the trip, didn't fancy it after finding the crag, a bit damp and very muddy. Didn't pull on, but I'd be surprised if the routes really are worth the stars; perhaps that was the mistake!
