Crag features

A complex and fascinating area comprising a series of faces, promotories and hidden zawns around a long proud headland. The cliffs on the south side of the headland offer some committing and fiercely technical routes; Paradise Wall in particular is a major venue offering sea-cliff climbing at its most spectacular. A slight drawback is the presence of nesting birds in summer and the consequent heavy accumulation of guano on and below some of the ledges.

Approach notes

Carn Lês Boel lies midway between Land's End and Porthgwarra and can be approached along the coast path from either by a walk of about 2km. The best approach is to walk westwards from Porthgwarra along the coast path, skirting the rim of Pendower Coves, which lie beyond Carn Barra.

Restricted Access

The lower section of Paradise Wall has many nesting birds and is best avoided in the summer months. The area is also important for breeding seals which are vulnerable to disturbance from September to late October.

Seasonal Restrictions

Dates: 15 March to 30 June

Reason: Nesting Birds

The restriction covers all routes from Pandour Buttress to Moon Buttress inclusive in the Pendower Coves area.

The nesting restriction which previously covered the route Excaliber at Carn Les Boel has been lifted and all routes left (looking in) of Pandour Buttress are now unrestricted.
