One Redeeming Feature © Spike Fullwood

Crag features

The rock in Bitholmes Wood consists of a large landslip crag and a short easy angled weathered gritstone outcrop. The latter has a sunny outlook and provides a few pleasent problems to do while walking past or visiting the Dragon of Wantley.

The landslip crag is big and loose (sometimes quite spectacularly so), but has much potential for highly adventurous outings if anyone feels the need. The left side has one excellent boulder.

Approach notes

Park on More Hall Lane, next to signboard for Bitholmes Wood. Follow track uphill to junction. The left branch leads to the Wantley Dragon, continue past this and then cut back right to access the weathered bit of the crag.

Going straight on at the track junction and then up a wooded bank at the next junction leads to the landslip crag. One Redeeming Feature is at the left end of this.

No Access Issues

On CRoW land, but be aware that the land directly above is not and this is used as a firing range, do not enter this area!
