Access Advice

Please avoid creating cairns above site access. Be aware of nesting sea birds and their habitat. Staff and volunteers monitor the sea clifs and stacks fornightly for schedule 1 species and sea bird counts. We value any sightings and information from climbers and can direct anything to lynn.munro@johnmuirtrust.org.

"To protect nesting peregrine falcons, we advise no climbing or scrambling on the stack between 1 March 30 June inclusive each year and will be updated for 2024 season. Alternative climbs available – “Sandwood Bay Crags”. This temporary restriction will be monitored, regularly reviewed and will be lifted early if nesting circumstances change.
