Crag features

Driving into Rjukan, there are three main waterfalls which attract your attention - this is the Svaddefossen Area which offers a trio of classic climbs which are very popular. This is probably because they are easy to access, have good ice and nice views but also because they are tantalisingly visible to every climber who comes to Rjukan!

Also in this area you have the option to extend your day by tackling one of the shorter waterfalls of the Jans Foss Area. For those after full-day outings, the two Gausta Marathon waterfalls are worthy of attention.

Of historical interest is the ascent of the Svaddefossen which was done by an unknown British team of soldiers in 1980. We have not been able to find out who this was, but it is one of the earliest ascents of a waterfall in the Rjukan Area.
