Crag features
An impressive quarry with a clean northwest facing wall which has been developed with a number of sport routes.
The Main wall is in the Shade until late afternoon but it can be damp in the base after heavy rain.
Approach notes
Once in Wirksworth park at the market place head and west past the Black's Head Pub. After 160m turn right into Allmark Garage. Walk up the road and aim for some bushes straight ahead (often with parked cars in front). Go through the bushes about 2m left of a dark telephone pole. This is all just before the entrance to the actual garage area. Go down a gully and into the quarry. A steep slippery slope leads down to the base rightwards and around to the wall.
Restricted Access
Access is unknown although signs at the entrance discourage you from entering.
The lady at the top claimed to to the land owner and was unhappy that we were trespassing. She said access had been given to those who had asked, but not to those who didn't. I apologised and told her we were not aware this was required.
Apparently we should have known and she claimed it was on the website. No idea what her name is, we finished the route and left, encouraged by the fact she was throwing branches down!
