Crag features

A majestic cove that features all that is best about the scenery of West Cornwall. The unique Western Heath, which is crossed en route to the crag, is the reason for the area's designation as an SSSI. Beyond this, steep grass slopes, punctuated by mini tors, sit above the decaying granite cliffs. The beautiful beach, with its polished and rounded boulders, has proven irrestible to photographers and artists alike. Unfortunately for climbers, the rock here is very friable, particularly in the upper sections of all the climbs.

Approach notes

From Porthgwarra, follow the coast path north, beyond the gated stone wall to a point just north of Carn Barra. From here, Pendower Coves appear as one large semi-circular cove, with the headland of Carn Lês Boel visible beyond.
