The Physical Wall - Ben Roberts on The Terrible Thing 8a © Georgie Lane

Crag features

A beautiful sweep of overhanging red quartzite with a small collection of quality sport routes. Short approach from car park, yet the crag is surrounded by pine trees giving it an atmospheric continental feel. The sport wall is very sheltered from prevailing winds and stays mostly dry outside of the winter, when it is sometimes affected by seepage or condensation.

Approach notes

The quarry is situated behind the old brickworks at the end of the pot-holed track where one parks when approaching the Gogarth North Stack climbs. Apparently, it is understood that the owners do not object to climbing activity.

No Access Issues

The site owners (Isle of Anglesey County Council) have concerns about climbing in the quarry due to public safety concerns and climbers have occasionally been asked to move on. However the climbing is on open access land and the sports routes on the Physical Face were recently rebolted following discusisons with the Council.
