Crag features
Adjacent to Linville Gorge, an outstanding wilderness area in North Carolina. The Matterhorn of the SE, as seen from route 181 through gaps in the trees. Quite striking. The crag is primarily SE-facing and the standard routes (1 - 4 pitches) can be rather popular. Routes at grades between S (US 5.4) to whatever you like. Routes can finish on a real summit!
Descent by rappell or by walking down the path on the NW side (bring shoes)

Approach notes
The nearest town is Morganton, off I-40 which is about 30 - 40 minutes drive away from the road access point. From Morganton, go N on 181 to a sign "Gingercake Acres". DO NOT follow earlier signs for Table Rock. These will result in a challenging drive. At Gingercake Acres, turn left and then left at a fork. Follow the paved road past some fairly opulent houses with fantastic views until the pavement abruptly stops, Carry on. Drive for about 9 miles, down hill mostly on an unpaved road (navigable in ordinary cars - reasonable ground clearance advised). You will get to a right-hand turn which goes uphill and becomes paved and very steep and leads to the parking area. Toilets, no water. The crag is obvious.
