Crag features

Porthmoina Island, below Bosigran Main Face, is a breeding and roosting site, which many seabirds rely upon, due in part to the popularity of Bosigran with climbers. The island has important maritime plant habitats, good crevice communities, and vulnerable marine environments between high and low water marks. The BMC supports the National Trust's proposal of Porthmoina Island being a voluntary sanctuary area. All visitors to the Bosigran area, whether climbers or not, are asked to respect this measure.

Access Banned

Portmoina has been identified as a sanctuary area for wildlife, particularly nesting birds. This is a voluntary arrangement that has been agreed by the West Penwith Environmental Liaison Group (which includes the Lands End CC, BMC, National Trust, English Nature and others). The arrangement will be kept under review.
