Crag features

A good crag which doesn't see a lot of traffic. There is a lot of good climbing from steep sport climbing to multi-pitch crack climbs in a range of grades (and widths). Most of the climbs receive shade for a good part of the day and are a good option when more popular crags (Cookie, Arch Rock) in the Lower Merced Canyon are too warm.

Approach notes

Access for the multi-pitch routes starting from the ground involves crossing a river which may be difficult in Spring. By the autumn the river is usually low enough to wade across. A cairn west of the Cookie Cliff parking on Hwy 140 marks a good place to cross and leads to a good trail to the base of the crag. The sport climbs on the Killer Pillar are approached by abseiling in from Hwy 41. It may also be possible to approach some of the longer routes this way if crossing the river isn't possible.
