Drab Crag © Jonny Tee 69

Crag features

Not the best rock on the coast, especially at top of climbs, but otherwise a decent, sunny, non-tidal venue. Worth making a visit for Vespa Vulgaris.

Approach notes

From the Bettridge Centre car park (57.030423, -2.148508) follow the path to the south alongside the railway over the style and beyond the railway bridge and continue past the obvious (telephone) mast.

At the next field fence (gate often open), turn left (south-east) and walk to the edge of the field then turn right and follow the fence south-west until you reach the point in the fence where it makes a sharp turn to the left (towards the sea), cross the wire fence by the large cylindrical post (57.021867, -2.153115). This is the entrance to Yellow crag. Keep heading SE by the fence line towards the sea to reach the corner fence post (57.021447, -2.152623).

It can be useful to secure an abseil rope (50m) from the corner post then linking it directionally through a stake in amongst the gorse on the headland. This would let you ab in easily, but better, gives you a secure top-belay.
