Crag features

Lots of standalone boulder problems throughout this whole area as well as quarried sandstone much of which is green and in need of cleaning.
Alderley Edge can offer some half decent climbing on average rock, if you are prepared to investigate the area, there are various problems however it may be best to start in Church Quarry where grades vary from the very easy to the very difficult, with good landings on the easier problems and poor on the harder ones.
Much of this area is still uncharted and there is certainly room to add more climbs here for the dedicated.

The rock is conglomerate and sandstone and can be both dusty and flaky as well as green in places. This can spoil some of the climbing but it's unspoilt, quiet and never busy so take a brush and clean the climbs as you go as there is some great climbing with some very hard grades especially the overhangs of Castle Rock and 3 stump Rock as well as to the right of entrance of Church Quarry.
Lots of unexplored routes mainly bouldering especailly in the Old Alderley Quarry where grades ranging from VB up.

July 2020 update: the National Trust has informed the BMC that climbing is not allowed - we are currently investigating the reasons behind this and seeing if a solution is possible which addresses their concerns whilst allowing climbing.

Alderley Edge is a somewhat esoteric venue, but can offer some half decent climbing on average rock, if you are prepared to investigate. The rock is conglomerate and sandstone and can be dirty in places. Unspoilt, quiet and never busy. Worth taking a soft brush and cleaning the climbs as you go.
