South Face of Sandgeo © Gav North Ron
Sandgeo is a tidal geo with some modest rock faces a short walk south of the Bird Observatory at the croft of Twingness. Alternatively following the coast round from the pier.
Particularly on the East facing jagged side of the crag there are many loose flakes and recent rockfall (July 2021).
Best tackled around at least two hours away from high tide. Maalies (Fulmars) and Tysties (Black Guillemots) nest at theis crag so is best avoided April-July and proceed with caution July-September when the Mallie chicks are on the nest.
A very short walk south of the Bird Obs which leads to a gate allowing access to the shore. Alternatively approach from the West around from the pier.
