Crag features

This massive escarpment rises above Llynnau Gamallt and has surpringly few routes considering its size (over one km in length). The trig point at its highest point is often labelled as Y Gamallt (Craig Goch) on maps.  Rock quality is variable and all climbs are single pitch.

Craig Goch guide by Mid Wales Climbing can be found here: https://midwalesclimbing.com/2019/01/19/craig-goch/

Craig Goch will be included in the upcoming CC Moelwynion Guidebook, due to be released later this year.

Approach notes

Approach via the B4407 Ffestiniog Penmachno road. Continue past parking for nearby Carreg y Foel Gron and within a kilometer a small track heads off left. The track is fairly well maintained and is used primarily by fishermen to approach the lakes. The track ends in a bay where it would be possible to park at least 5 cars. Follow the vague path to the lake and then scramble up scree slopes to the different bays. Alternatively follow the good path up the ridgeline and drop down a number of gullys. The second approach is much quicker and would take approximately 35 minutes to reach the far north walls
