Crag features

A number of crags have been developed to the east of Borrodale Beach, close to the headland of Rubha Aird Ghamhsgail, offering a collection of worthwhile sport and trad routes. Generally quick drying. There is also some decent bouldering in the area. The vitrified fort on the headland may also be of interest. Routes are described from left to right.

Approach notes

Approach from the parking area by the old boathouse at Druimindarroch (NM 6858 8442) (as for Black Rock). Parking is limited but additional parking is available close to the A830 junction near the start of the single track road. Wellies are recommended for the approach - essential for crossing Borrodale burn without wet feet. From the boathouse, cross the bay heading south and then follow a well-established path leading left (east) for a few hundred metres before eventually dropping down to the grassland above Borrodale Beach. Just before the beach, cross the Borrodale burn on the left and follow a vague path through ferns to a fencce. Crossing the burn is much harder at high tide. A prominent boulder (The Gatehouse) will be seen on the left. Continue on the path beyond the boulder via some boggy ground to reach a rocky bay. Approximately 15 mins to the nearest routes.
