Salong Crag displays similar climbing to that of the well-known Beacon Hill Crag and is located in Tai Lam Country Park in the Western New Territories. The area consists of two large granite outcrops that are named ‘Sa’ and ‘Long’ after the names of the developer’s daughter and son. Located in a picturesque valley surrounded by granite outcrops and pine trees, the access is straightforward and the climbing worthwhile of visits away from popular crags elsewhere.
This is one location where having a car is an advantage. The approach is in fact very reasonable provided you are dropped at the start of the Maclehose Trailhead/Tuen Mun. This location is at the far end of an unnamed road that is entered from So Khun Wat Road and easily accessed by taxi, uber or private car.
