Rocktype Sandstone (soft)

Character:
A small sea stack in Collywell Bay. The rock is soft but well featured. Holds near the top should be approached with extreme suspicion and treated gently (it is a sea stack after all!). The east (seaward) face is rarely dry.
Routes range from 5 - 8m in height and provide an evening's entertainment. The lines are good but tend to be bold, and the landings are generally poor.
Descents are all via the original route (mod).
The stack is eroding quickly, please do not advance this process by climbing when wet or by using poor rope techniques.
History:
The name stems from the apparent use of the stack as a garden by local Mr. Charles Dockwray, prior to the collapse of a plinth which connected it to the shore.
A severed length of rope dangles from the prow on the north face, indicating previous interest by climbers. No record of first ascents / route establishment is available, and therefore route names (and grades) should be taken with a healthy pinch of sea salt.
What it lacks in stature, it makes up for in accessibility!
Park on Collywell Bay Road and walk down the footpath to the rocks (2 mins)
