Crag features

The boulders are located on open access land, as is the approach. A secluded sun trap with stunning views across Bilsdale, it is doubtful to see anyone else here other than the buzzards circling overhead. The rock is mostly of great quality and clean with good landings, although there are some exceptions so care should be taken. There is an abundance of small boulders in the lower grades; it would make an excellent circuit for children or beginners with more development.

Approach notes

Park at Chop Gate Village Hall on the B1257. Take the public footpath uphill from the car park, through the gorse bushes and the fields above. Keep left and cross a stile, then continue up the moor to another stile. From here, turn left and follow the bridleway/wall left to a gate. Now make a beeline for the rocks visible up to the right, this is the start of the crag (25mins). Please note that this will be significantly more challenging in summer once the bracken is fully grown.
