Approach notes

Shipley Brake - 10-15mins walk. Parking possible in the community centre car park (Keedwell Hill). Walk through the playground then turn right up Keeds Lane. After around 50m turn left into a narrow path then strike out diagonally across the field into the next field and up right. Go through gate into woods, turn left and continue along the trail onto main path. After this turns sharp right the rocks can be found uphill just off the path.

Iron Plantation - 5mins walk. Parking possible in the community centre car park (Keedwell Hill). Walk through the playground then turn right up Keeds Lane. Continue to top then turn right to enter woods over a metal bar. Head up rightwards following paths in the woods until reaching 'the slots' (an old iron quarry about as esoteric as Bristol climbing gets!) near the top of the hill.

Iron Plantation: 2 mimutes max: Or nearer with an easier walk park near the junction of Providence Lane and the B3128 (just east of the Golf Club House), popular with the dog walkers. The public footpath leads from the club house to a broken gate into the wood. Go beyond the gate carefully you are on top of the mine. There is an open, unfenced shaft east of the mine and rumours of a shaft in the mine slot.
