Crag features

The point is the seaward face of Polostoc Zawn, the dark cleft of decomposing rock that lies midway between the holed cavern of Tol-pedn-Penwith and Porthgwarra Buttress. The rock is a little gritty in places but access is straightforward and there are some worthwhile routes. Well worth a visit if only to escape the crowds on neighbouring cliffs.

Approach notes

Pick up the coastal path just down and left from Porthgwarra car park. Follow the path south, above the edge of the cove, for 400m, keeping left where it branches, and continue towards an isolated buttress of golden granite on the slope ahead. The gruesome black wall of Polostoc Zawn is clearly visible down left. Veer down towards the zawn and go over the right edge (facing out) of the headland to open ledges above the sea. Scramble easily down to the left to tidal ledges.
