One of the small buttresses on the fellside that rises steeply behind Coniston Far End Youth Hostel. Yew Pike is the main crag slanting diagonally up to the right in 2 tiers and topped by a round knoll on the skyline. The crag overlooks the village with some fine aerial views of the streets below.
The Upper Tier is 100 metres north of the Lower Tier (identified by the distinctive light coloured wall) and has a rounded knob on top of the crag. The main features are a central wall of smooth looking rock with a smooth concave wall to its right and a clened wall right of this again.
Start where the Coppermines Valley road meets the open fellside and follow a trod upwards diagonally right, at one point threading between boulders on a green shelf, to where it steepens appreciably below the crag (20 minute walk).
