Anglesey Bouldering - Lockdown Dyno. © Sl@te Head

Crag features

A worthwhile and varied circuit of problems on three separate blocs, 'The Hendy Boulder', 'Hendy Bach' and the 'The Hendy Slab'... Can you do them all in one visit?

The  steep 'Hendy Boulder' offers some good dynamic problems including 'Look up, Lockdown' 6a+ and the excellent 'Lockdown Dyno' 7a.

The nearby 'Hendy Bach bloc' is smaller in size but has some cool and quirky problems such as 'The Hendy Bat Hang' 5+ and 'Clowns Mantle' 6a+ (similar to Browns Mantle at the Cromlech). Just behind this block is an easy angled slab which is best climbed with no hands 'No Handy Slab'.

The recently unearthed 'Hendy Slab' offers some enjoyable slate like slab problems 'The Hendy Slab' 5+, 'Slabulous' 5+ and the tricky 'Tip toe traverse' 6b.

Approach notes

Follow the signposted footpath from the A5025, the Hendy & Hendy Bach Boulders are near and above a small ruin in a small wooded knoll north of the path  (head right into the woods shortly after crossing the wooden footbridge). The Hendy Slab can be found in the woodland to the left of the footbridge on the other side of the stream. The boulders are only about a 400 metre walk from the A5025 Park and Ride carpark.

Access Advice

When cows are in the field that the public footpath crosses and the boulders are in steer clear unless you particularly value overly inqusitive bovine peering over you as you contemplate climbing and inevitably have to walk the long way round to get back to where you started.
