Located in a beautiful situation in Arrabida high above a turquoise and azure sea, this crag has various sectors that with the exception of Entrada are a bit more complex to access. Entrada is easily reached by the descent ramp, whereas Free is reached by awkward scrambing further down this ramp. An abseil from the ramp gives access to the lower tier and Gruta sector, whilst Lost sector is apparantly best approached along a higher ramp above Entrada/Free then descending at the far end (not confirmed). Abismo sector is about 50m west of Entrada and approached by abseil. Topo at http://www.gmesintra.com/topos/html/pedreiras1.htm although some grades do not match those given in Rui Rosado's new Lisbon guide.
In essence, park south of Pedreiras village just off the quarry road that bypasses it and at the 2nd dirt track on the right (just before quarry entrance). From here walk south (the dirt track is sometime blocked off by boulders so not advisable to drive further along it) keeping the huge quarry edge on the left (east) passing a huge spoil heap. Dirt track or path to right available. At the upper right edge of the quarry (SW corner), keep heading S on the narrow path towards a large prominent tree then reach aq survey point (the 'stone breast') at the edge of the sea cliffs. Great view here. The descent to the buttresses starting with Entrada sector is 30m W along the cliff edge on a narrow track down a sloping ramp. The other upper buttress (Abismo) to the west has a few routes accessed by abseil. A bit further along the path to the west is a prominent triangular beacon and a path also continues all the way down to the sea here at an old ruined fort.
