Crag features

A small crag in an amazing position situated high above and close to Cangas de Onis with stunning views from the slopes of the western massif of the Picos. The climbing is generally on good quality limestone and overall the situation is possibly better than the routes. If you’re climbing up to the mid 6’s it’s worth a visit. The outstanding sector is El Picón with some very good routes in the mid to upper 6’s with the 35m ‘El Picón’ a highlight. One big bonus is that facing west the Crag sees a lot of shade in the summer and makes for a decent morning venue.

Approach notes

Follow the road through Següencu. This turns into a rough track which winds its way south. At the T-junction turn right, signposted to the mirador. Continue south, ignoring the right turn to the mirador itself, steeply downhill, until the track veers left above a farmhouse. Eventually you will reach a small parking area at a no-entry sign.

To access the crags follow the track downhill for about 75m until an obvious path cuts off left. This contours across the hillside towards El Picón. To get to Cainejo you need to cut off this path and go diagonally up a steep slope to arrive first at Cainejo Inf then to Cainejo. Sector Iniciación is about 75m past El Picón on the same path over a small crest.
