The blockfield of the Salève offers historical boulders: L'Alpinodrome, la Petite Carrière, le Petit Valaisan and La Dalle au Soleil, boulders which have witnessed the passage of generations of climbers, as demonstrated by the polished holds!!! Thanks to a group of passionate climbers, "new style" boulders have been developed. This topo is the next logical step.
The blockfield of the sector of Le Coin is particularly important, and not all of the boulders are documented; however, black arrows painted onto the rock show almost every line.
Some less popular boulders may become covered in moss and vegetation. A bit of a brush and the boulder will be as good as new.
Instructions
- Black arrows painted onto the boulders give the positions of the hands and the direction of the line.
- Only use a metallic brush to remove lichen; do not chip or modify holds.
SAFETY
The landings in the blockfield are rarely good! It is your responsability to protect landings with crashpads, attentive spotters or even with a rope, namely on the highballs [there are bolts at the top of the tall boulders (TN)]

General approach
By car
From Geneva --> Carouge --> Croix-de-Rozon --> Collonges-sous-Salève
From Annecy/Chamonix --> Motorway direction Geneva --> exit 13.1 Archamps --> Collonges-sous-Salève
At Collonges-sous-Salève, at the roundabout with a big plastic boulder, take the exit with the train crossing. Follow directions to "Tennis" (do not go to Mt Salève). Road: D145.
Le Coin
D145 After the tennis court, take a left at the sign "Le Nymphea" (note: while this used to be the local climbers' HQ, it is now a swinger's club). Park at Le Parking Le Coin (961 Route de la Croisette, 74160 Collonges-sous-Salève, France (46.137016, 6.162320)). The boulders can be reached by following the path to the right at the top of the parking, which takes you past a fountain. Follow the path and you will reach the boulders.
La Plaine de l'Ours
D145 Park at Le Pérouzet (46.140254, 6.162515), in the bend next to a wooden bollard. Take the path leading to Grande Gorge; after 230m, right after a wooden landmark, take the path on the right marked by "Grande Varappe" in red paint. Follow the path for 200m. When you arrive at a flattened clearing, take the path on the left that continues to rise slightly. After 250m, take a left at the cairn at the foot of a boulder. Continue for 40m.
Le Carrousel
D145 Before the tennis court, follow the sign "Restaurant le Carrousel". Park in the bend. The boulder is 20m away on the right, behind a little stream.
