Approach notes

(If coming from the A96 direction) Head North on the A97 towards Banff. Follow this road for 2-3miles before taking the left turn signposted to Kinnoir. Follow this road for about another mile until you see a breakers yard (Sharpewood spares) on the left-hand side. Turn down this track and take a left at Sharpewood. This will bring you to a Forestry Commission gate. Park with consideration here (avoid blocking the gate on weekdays). 

From the car, walk into the forest along the forest track. After about 50m you will reach a junction. From here you can either head west straight up the hill through the trees for about 5-10mins before reaching the castle stone (marked on OS map) or walk south along the track for 5mins before cutting back on yourself up the hill along another track.
