Yosemitic crag above the town of Esigo. Long clean cracks that swallow gear some up to 40m! Unlike Cadarese, Yosesigo has been developed with a "clean climbing" ethic from the beginning, strictly no bolts, except for loweroffs.
Parking by a bridge with the footpath sign that leads up to Esigo village. Walk up road through villages until joining path 33 which has a sneaky yellow sign on the left. Follow this for 10-15 mins before a cairn leads up a steep path on the right. A second cairn marks the traverse to the crag on a faint path.
1hr 50 when carrying a pack loaded with a triple set of cams!
Easier alternative: reserve dinner at Cat Fausc hut (very honest price) in Esigo village (possibility to sleep there too). The super kind owner will pick you up in the morning with their four wheel drive and drive you up the steep private road - it will save you MINIMUM one hour walk - and also will drive you down to your car in the evening. From the drop off point it's about 45 minutes walk to the crag - definitely worth it - Yosesigo will require all your strenght!
Well worth the walk in. Take a double rack of cams, more if you can, these cracks are long. walts4 - 18/Jun/20 |
