Crag features
Within 40 minutes walk from the "hanging houses" in the old city of Cuenca, overlooking the Huecar gorge. The many buttresses face mainly west so give shade in the morning but allow climbing on faces of various orientations to avoid or seek afternoon sun. Single pitch climbing between 15 and 25 metres of height. A huge range of grades and continues to be developed with new routes, allowing some rare easy grade climbing for the area. Named after a striking roofless cave and with a natural spring fountain for fresh water. Mainly face climbing on small crimps and pockets with some more overhanging challenges.
Approach notes
Most easily reached from the Rincon Seco viewpoint and car park on the small road that passes through Merendero sector, a couple of km further along. Park and descend path on the left reaching the crag in 4 minutes. Also easy walking access from the famous San Pablo bridge, taking the lower fork half way along the Paules climbing sector. A further 25 minutes walk from here.
