Rocktype Sandstone (soft)
Altitude 62m a.s.l
Faces SW
An ex quarry with some reasonable quality rock that is protected by tree cover.
These rocks lie about half a mile east of Balcombe, beside the road that crosses the north-western tip of Ardingly Reservoir. The outcrop begins at a bend in the road where some shattered rocks occur in an ex-quarry. A flight of steps carries a public footpath over the crag, which continues beyond into the back gardens of of the houses below. Very difficult to park on the road by the crag - take care not to park on/over private property.
The outcrop is in multiple ownership and private throughout - it is not known whether climbing is permitted.
