Crag features

Loads of potential for sea-bouldering on juggy rock above clear turquoise water. The boulders near Skala beach offer lowball stuff in shallow water and often have poor footholds and undercut starts. There are larger boulders further out in much deeper water but it is worth checking the landings under potental problems anyway!

Some of the rock (but not all) is sharp and occasionally holds snap but there is also much good rock. It is also worth checking around the back of boulders that look tempting as sometimes what looks like a good wall is only a crumbly fin a few inches thick. Check for hidden rocks under the lowball stuff as well as the bigger boulders.

Take a waterproof camera.

Approach notes

Go to the southern end of Skala’s main beach. The boulders should be visible ahead and can be reached by a 5 minute swim. They are further away than they look but not much and the water is mostly shallow enough to stand until the approach to the bigger, better boulders further out where the depth conviniently increases.

The inital swim-approach is rocky but by the time the first boulders are reached the sea-bed is mostly sandy.

No Access Issues

These are at the end of a public beach and local kids seem to use them for jumping off (even where the water is not that deep). Locals have also been spotted clambering out and gathering something from bushes on the loose shoreline.
