A huge area of top quality limestone climbing. Virtually unknown amongst English speakers, it seems, which is a real shame. Multiple crags offer hundreds of world-class sport routes, from F4 to the high F8s. Many freestanding limestone escarpments mean it is always possible to find shade, and some of the steeper stuff stays dry in the rain. This is the most popular area for sport climbing in Carinthia - it even has its own guidebook (Klettern am Kanzianiberg by Ingo Neumann). You could spend a week here and not get even close to bored. As with many Alpine crags, the grading is on the stiff side - but given the quality of the routes, it really doesn’t matter.
Park in the main carpark and just head up to the crags. Many routes have names and grades on the base, so if you don’t have a topo it’s still possible to climb with confidence.
