Chaos Crag © Hamfunk

Crag features

Massive hole in the ground. The rock is limestone but with a high sand content. Climbing mainly on edges on vertical to slightly overhanging walls.  It is very reminiscent of quarried gritstone that we get in the UK and gives a pleasant change to pinching tufas. Because many of the routes do not get much traffic they get very dirty, however when cleaned they provide absorbing climbing with a trad feel in that you have time to work out the moves ahead. The three star routes are generally clean and chalked.

Approach notes

Access into the hole is from directly opposite the climbing. Duck under the fence and zig-zag down the slope before contouring round leftwards (facing the climbing) to the foot of the large overhangs. Traverse rightwards under the cliff until you reach the routes.
