Crag features

Beautiful and classic boulder area. Lots of old school boulder problems on solid granite boulders, within an Oakwood that overlooks the city of Madrid and its surrounding hills and mountains. An online topo can be found at https://27crags.com/crags/el-escorial/topos

Approach notes

From outside the town of El Escorial, follow the M-505 until you come to a cross junction, that slows the speed limit to 50km, at this junction take the road signposted 'La Silla De Felipe II', follow this road past a church on your right and continue up the windy road for 1-2km until you come to a barrier at a hairpin. There is parking here for around 8-10 vehicles. Be respectful when parking as this area is also the turn around point. The GPS for the car park is N 40.5680170 W -4.1527563. The boulders can be accessed by an obvious path that leads past the bar/cafe on the right, follow this up some steps that split left from the path. At the top of these steps is a building and past this is the popular area of Sector Karmita. Others areas can be accessed by different means
