Crag features

A fantastic bouldering area that has yet to be fully exploited. There are boulders of all shapes and sizes, scattered over a large area similar in style to Font. There has not been a guide of the area published, and so far only a few routes have been done, with the potential for many others. The website http://soloboulder.com/en/sector/boulders-in-sector-el-helechal-in-area-bolonia-in-tarifa-in-cadiz/5, has a few topo's for routes. It's a great location for exploring and searching through the boulders to find routes that can be climbed, rather than the colour/number ticking in Font.

Approach notes

This area is approached from the small beachside town of Bolonia. From the Bolonia it is about a 5-10 minute drive. The coordinates for the parking are N 36.100518 W -5.793113. There is an area for five cars/vans to park near an information sign overlooking the panorama of Bolonia, if this area is full there is further parking up the road. Near the car park there is a further information board and sign posts that explain about the bouldering in the area, next to this is a sign post and an obvious path that works its way down the hill, there are a further two sign posts, although by this point you would have passed many boulders and routes. The main area is accessed after the second sign post and through the arch way boulder.

Restricted Access

Access and Bouldering/climbing prohibited from 1st March till 31th August. Nesting area for the local alimoche (egyptian vulture).
