Crag features

A dedicated dry-tool crag 20 minutes away from Trondheim. The crag was originally bolted with two lines back in 2005 by the late Adrien Garioud. Bolts were provided by NTNUi Tindegruppa. Following "rediscovery" and discussion with the landowner at the Lidarende farm in 2017, the crag has been cleaned up, loose rock removed, top anchors replaced, perma-draws put in place and a new route created again with equipment and assistance from Tindegruppa. Several further routes could potentially be added and this is the intention at present. So far it is believed all of the placements are natural and do not appear to have been enhanced or deliberately drilled, the crag is intended to remain this way. For more information about the crag, contact the ice climbing in Trondheim facebook page.

The crag is mapped within a belt of amphibolite greenschist and this rocktype is quite friable and loose. Climbing with axes and crampons will result in damage to the rock face which can be minimised by climbing in rock shoes. It is also advised that eye protection is used as climbing here generates a large quantity of dust and grit that will damage eyes.

The anchors are situated at approximately two thirds height of the crag however there are numerous good trees at the top to rappel from, for those wishing to set up a top-rope. A 60m rope is sufficient but a friend is needed to help pull you into the wall as the crag is overhanging.

Approach notes

From Trondhiem it is easiest to drive via Nardo. From the E6 Nardo roundabout drive along the Fv860 Uteleirvegen and turn right at the shopping centre (Nardo senteret). Continue along this road until a roundabout just after Utelierhallen. Take the second exit onto the Fv885 Bratsbergvegen and continue until you meed another roundabout. Turn left (second exit) at theroundabout and onto the Fv875 (still Bratsbergvegen) towards Bratsberg. Continue on this road through Bratsberg for a further ca. 3 km, the crag is situated on the right side of the road (from Bratsberg) just after a tight downhill bend. There is parking at the base of the crag.

No Access Issues

So far no access issues are reported. The landowner has no issues with people climbing here. However, as it is private land be considerate, keep it clean.
