Access below half tide.
Approaching down from the cliff top is tricky to say the least. The simplest approach is the long boulder hop from Shipload Bay.
New path was hacked in 12 July 2014. Pass the Chapman Rock Trig point and pass into the next field. At the 5th fence post jump over and into a hole in the bushes. The path zigzags down to a cluster of trees, then keeps about 50ft left of the cliff top to a shale bank. Strike right down a shale trail to reach a prominent boulder. Abseil down off this boulder to the beach. There may be other paths, but these are invisible in summer. Placed some slings at the top of Chapman Rock for descent - Another 8 ft rope sling would be helpful.
