Martin McKenna on Araña Blanca (7b) at Cocentaina © Alan James

Crag features

A great wall of good rock with some superb very long pitches in the mid-to-harder grades. The wall gently leans and most of the routes are stamina exercises - those short on fitness may have a hard time here. The main quality is in the red and black spot grades although there is a good wall on the right-hand end that has a pleasant set of easier routes.

Approach notes

Leave the A7 at junction 443 for Cocentaina Sur on the N-340. Follow signs for Cocentaina going right at the first roundabout (Decathlon to the left here for chalk top-ups). At the next roundabout (big Carrefour to the right) take the third unsigned exit. Almost immediately turn left onto a small road - Cami de la Cantera if you can see the sign. Drive up here for 2.6km to where a track appears on the right, just before the road splits. Park here. Walk along the track for about 5 minutes to a yellow and white marked path on the left which leads up to the right-hand end of the crag.

Restricted Access

No climbing on routes on the right-hand side of Sector I from 1 March to 31 July due to nesting birds. This is the easier routes area just right of where you arrive at the crag. The first bolts are removed on the effected routes.
